Hey everyone! Hope everyone’s doing well!~^^. Today I will be reviewing a pressed powder by Maybelline called ‘Clear smooth’. This was gifted to me by a cousin who bought this in Vietnam, I think this product is an Asian edition since I haven’t seen it in Australia.
The product claims to have:
- Lasting oil control
-Silky smooth texture
Furthermore it has 4 shades specially developed for Asian Skin (and thus why it isn’t available in Australia). It is also:
- Fragrance free
- Oil free
-Won’t clog pore
What made me like this product even more is of those four facts listed above. I have acne-prone skin so I try to be careful on what I apply on my face, I also hate fragranced base make up products but luckily this doesn’t have any scent. Also the shade I bought was in light but this product also comes in nude beige, natural and honey.
But does the product really live up to all its claims?
At the moment my skin is a bit dry, not particularly oily. I use this powder to set my foundation/bb cream and I find that it doesn’t look too matte or highlight dry areas of my face. But to some degree I think this product does a good job at keeping my oil at bay.
I do agree that it gives my skin a smooth finish, as I mentioned before it doesn’t highlight dry areas of my face. The coverage is medium-light, really I use it to set my foundation or bb cream so the amount of coverage isn’t my main concern. But I have used this product alone and the only thing it manages to do is to cover redness and minor blemishes.
This product has an spf of 18, which isn’t high so I do recommend applying a layer of sunscreen underneath.
So now onto the packaging. I actually like how simplistic the packaging design is and how sturdy and compact it is. It’s convenient to just put in your make up bag and I was in need of a compact product since I only own a loose powder.
What I really don’t like about this product is the puff. It looks cheap and very low quality. It is hard to use this puff to apply the powder since there is no place to slip your fingers in. Because of this I opt for a powder brush as it gives a more even finish.
Another thing I don’t like about the packaging is the plastic film that covers the powder. Obviously that’s meant to be a good thing but it is such a nuisance to remove the plastic. Whenever I want to use the product I sometimes accidentally end up digging a finger nail in the powder.
- oil free
- sturdy packaging
- has spf
- I assume it would be inexpensive
- cheap quality puff
- only available in Asian countries (I assume)
- Plastic film is a nuisance to remove every time I want to use it
- Contains paraben
Overall I think this is a worthwhile product to purchase if its easily accessible. I think it will suit teenage skin or people with oily and sensitive skin and its a perfect item to just pop into your bag because of its portability.
Hey guys! Summer is finally over and I’m so glad I’m not going to suffer in the heat anymore! This round up isn’t long as my other ones, I’ve been really busy with school so I haven’t really gone out a lot therefore a lot of my purchases were made online.
A sad thing of Feb, is Showtime is over, I really, really loved that show like, gull I can’t explain how I feel. I have nothing to look forward in life anymore since its over, jks. But I really wished it was longer at least I got some catchphrases from that show like Sehun’s Yehet, Oh ho lat and Baekhyun’s Kkaebsong~~ Oh, and maybe Kris’s ‘Chicken is not my style’ but I don’t go around saying that. LOL
To cure my sadness over the ending of Showtime (not really), I bought Nature’s Republic new EXO lipbalm of Kpoptown. Funny enough this came on valentines day, and no I do not have a boyfriend, but who needs one when this is sent to your door on valentines? My cute friends who did give me valentine day gifts with the words ‘from:Kai <3’.
So I got Chanyeol and Sehun, no Exo M member sadly. I love the peachy smell of this product, it really smells divine and I look forward to using it and later on reviewing it!~ Kpoptown gave the products to me in a little box, so that was nice of them!~
I also got some stuff from stylenanda, I think I’m really in love with the shop and all the quirky clothing they offer (some at reasonable prices) which you can’t find in Australia. Autumn is coming soon and I really wanted a beret. This lightening beret is so cute and unique and can really spice up any boring outfit so I absolutely love wearing it out!
These types of tops have been trending lately and I see them everywhere. I also got this from stylenanda and I love the unique material and the detailing for the white stripes.
I absolutely love tartan printed clothes and I think its perfect for autumn. I’m definitely see more tartan clothing at various Australian clothing stores! I bought this one from valleygirl on sale for only $10 which is quite a bargain!
I actually bought these cute little mugs at Woolworths, it was a collection for valentines day but since valentines was over they marked this down to like $2! So cheap and so cute!
Also purchased some items from Etude House!~
Sports girl stuff
I really love anything that has coconut or made out of it. So when I saw these hair products I couldn’t resist, they smell so nice like real coconuts not artificial ones. So far I’ve used the mist and it works very well at de tangling my hair in the morning!~
Ankle boots for winter, only $10 at Big W
Leather shorts from temt
My friend got be some gifts at Fiji and most of them are handmade and the soap is organic!~
Happy Valentines day! I thought I’d post a review since today is a special occasion, I hope everyone who celebrates this occasion received some form of love from someone who cares for you. Here is my rose to you guys @};- . Today I will be reviewing Etude House drawing eye brow a product I reach out for very often!~
I’ve only quite recently realised the importance filling and shaping your eyebrows and its ability to enhance your overall facial appearance if done correctly. Since I’ve learnt this fact I’ve tried out many brow products, from pencil, powder, to a liquid pen type.
I found this Etude House’s Drawing Eyebrow to be the perfect product for beginners which is also at a very affordable price! I think the best part is that it makes drawing in eyebrows so simple and it also makes creating the ‘straight brow’ look easier and neater!
The clean, straight eyebrow look is a signature look of Korean idols and Ulzzangs and it seems to be one of the main feature of their make up looks. Although it looks natural it can really enhance your appearance and even make you look more youthful. Hence why I shape and fill my eyebrows!~
This brow tool comes in six different shades, I own number one. I like how the colour is softly pigmented which makes filling your brows an easy task since it is easily buildable. It also keeps my eyebrows looking natural and not too bold. I also found that the products adheres well and lasts a long time!
softly pigmented and buildable colour that helps brows remain looking natural
The six different available shades
I love the packaging of this product since it’s so convenient to just pop in my make up bag. It also comes with a good quality brush at the other end which makes it a good ‘on-the-go’ type of product. These days I’m all about efficiency and with this brow product’s retractable pencil , life is a bit easier in the mornings and I don’t have to worry about sharpening it.
Another big plus about this product is its angled tip which allows precision and makes creating straight brows so much easier! Just softly create soft strokes across your brows and build it until you get your desired look.
I use this product very often now and the good thing about it is they sell refills so that would be cheaper then buying a brand new one!
Good for beginners
The ‘straight brow look’ is easier to achieve
Refills are available
Many colours to choose from
The packaging might be easy to damage since its slim and a bit flimsy
Hey guys! Happy Chinese New Year! Hope everyone who celebrates this day gets a lot of red pockets!~ Since today is CNY I decided to post a review of one of my favourite products!
I’ve been wanting to review Etude’s House Nymph Aura Volumer for a while but I haven’t got a chance (more like I’m lazy )to do it until now! As you might or might not know I featured this products in my ‘Top Ten Favourite Products of 2013 ♥’. Since I think so highly of this product I thought I should try to review it first!~
If you are into the ‘Korean make up trend’ you might pick up on the fact that they love their skin having a healthy and dewy glow, it’s pretty uncommon to spot any girl idol sporting a matte face. I guess the radiant glow also helps make the skin look more flawless, natural and effortless.
Well luckily this product does just that!~ I’ve always wanted to achieve the dewy skin look, so I must admit that this product really does the job, and it does it well!
'Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer is a multi-functional cream that maximizes the radiance and dewy glow on skin.
I have tried all the product through samples and I found that 2# works best on me, so I went and purchased it from a reputable seller from ebay. The different variations of the volumer is shown below:
Brilliant Nymph Aura
Result of blended product. As you can see number 2 has some shimmer in it and a pinkish undertone.
I found #03 to be pretty sticky and I didn’t really like how it was transparent because it felt like I just had a film of shiny stuff on my face, #01 was even stickier and had an orange undertone. Therefore I found that ‘Brilliant nymph aura’ worked the best since I absolutely loved it’s pearly pink colour!
The scent of this product is bearable and light. It smells floral-y like the typical etude house product scent you find in their powders and bb creams. The consistency isn’t too liquid-y nor too thick so its easier to blend in nicely, just don’t use too much product!
As you can see the bb cream mixed with the volumer is less matte and has a dewy glow.
There are two ways you can use this product. The first way is after your base make up routine, you can gently pat this on to highlight parts of your face, the second way is to mix it with your foundation/bb cream in a 1:3 ratio (according to etude house). I choose the latter as I find it gives an overall radiant glow! Just make sure not to mix too much volumer because your face might look too shiny!~
I think my face remains radiant throughout the day, plus I have dry skin so I don’t really have a problem with oiliness. But if you have oily skin maybe it is a better idea to use this product after your base make up (instead of mixing it with your bb cream/foundation) or set it with a powder!
Hygienic and cute packaging
Gives skin a beautiful, and radiant glow!
Works so well blended in with bb cream!
Could be unsuitable for oily skin
Can be sticky and feel heavy on the skin at times
Overall I really love this products, although its not a must-have in a make up rountine, people who love the Korean dewy skin look would absolutely love this product!~
Finally it’s 2014, hope everyone had a happy New Year!~ Yesterday I visited Yoko Ono’s ‘War is Over’ exhibition at Sydney’s MCA, it was my first exhibition and I really enjoyed it! I went with my cousin knowing only little about Yoko Ono herself and she also wasn’t really during my time so I didn’t have much background knowledge. But coming out of the exhibition I felt really inspired about her works and intrigued by the meanings held behind it.
I went ahead and purchased a top at their store since I wanted a white top which is a bit plain yet still looks cool! haha. I was about to purchase a shirt from stylenanda which says ‘war is peace’ but was hesitant because I didn’t want to wear anything ‘controversial’ even if no one notices. So I got Yoko’s one that says ‘War is Over’ and I think I’d feel better wearing that!
Some pictures I managed to take
I think my favourite part of the exhibition was ‘Doors and Sky Puddles’ which is compromised of multiple doors and cloud puddles beside them. This piece is meant to symbolise ‘a powerful physical presence redolent of past lives and locations’.
My cousin recently went to Thailand and Vietnam and brought me some cool stuff (if you’re reading this THANK YOU). She got me a Maybelline Clear Smooth pressed powder which isn’t available in Australia and is the perfect thing I need since I don’t have any pressed powders. It is also oil free, fragrance free and non-comedogenic which is awesome! She also bought me a Etude House tear drop liner which is one of my HG products, I have another one I’m currently using at the moment but it’s a different type.
I found a shop recently in the city that sell 3CE products for a reasonable price so I picked up the 3CE Apple Tint in pink which I will review soon! I think I got the one with the old packaging since their site has the new design for this product now.
My cousin also gifted me some lipsticks which are seem really moisturising! She got me a cute, mini lipstick set from Thailand which is from a popular brand over there. The packaging is adorable and the colour pay off is really good!
I bought the two innisfree masks and the rest were from my cousin. Unfortunately I can’t use any masks at the moment so some would probably end up being used by my mum.
I visited Top Shop during a sale and bought this varsity jacket for $34 when it used to be $116, talk about a bargain. I love how its quilted and has inside pockets. I’ve already worn this, during Australia Day actually since it was pretty cold that day.
I also purchased my third pair of vans, this time I went for maroon. It was actually only $29 when I bought it and I was pretty upset to find it was marked down to $19 a few hours later. I was so bummed out!
I stumbled across a nice pair of black wedges on sale for $34 and it was pretty much half price. I just had to get it since wedges are the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn and I wanted something that wasn’t too casual!
I purchased this marvel top from Target, I seem to be buying a lot of t shirts lately and I’m particularly interested in buying ones with unique designs.
This top wasn’t bought by me but gifted from my cousin, she said it looked hipster haha! I actually really love it since it looks pretty unique. It’s actually a crop top so I think I might pair these with shorts.
I went to Myers and they had an offer of 30% off already reduced items. I bought this cute top which is kinda like a dress but too short to be one! I thought it was so cute and it was only 17 dollars!
I’ve been interested in Berets for some odd reason, I think it might be because I really admire Krystal’s fashion in Heirs. If you’ve watched the drama you might realises that she is always wearing something on her head. I bought my studded beret for only five dollars at Trade Secret and I can’t wait to wear it!
Finally I have found a coat that is a suitable length for me. I bought this coat from Ice and… wait for it… it was only 99 cents, jokes it was like $3 (a buy 3 for 10 offer) and better than anything Kris can thrift ;). Its original price was $50, talk about a bargain.
I recently purchased a maxi dress, and I don’t usually wear maxi dressed but I thought the pattern on this one was cool. It’s going to feel kinda weird wearing one out for the first time!
Cute sleepwear from cotton on body!
Another purchase from ICE, also for $3
I bought this Palty straightening kit for my mum for Christmas, used it on her and it is actually pretty effective! It is also very affordable so if you want to have straighter hair but don’t want to pay a lot of money to permanently straightening it at a salon I suggest trying this out!
Hey guys! Today I’m going to do a different post~ There are many beauty bloggers who take pretty and inspirational photos of their outfits, although I’m not going to model the clothes myself since taking the pictures would be quite a hassle, I just wanted to show you some outfits that I have compiled which suits the hot summer weather in Australia.
If you guys read my round-up posts you might find that I don’t spend a lot of money on clothing items, yes I do admit I buy quite a lot of clothes but most of these pieces were bought on sales therefore they are super affordable. I hope this post is helpful for people who want some styling tips or are living in Australia and don’t want to spend a fortune on clothes, because trust me you don’t need to spend heaps of money to look good and stylish! I was also inspired to do this posts because many people on Instagram did these type of outfits post, plus it’s a good way to show off some of my vintage cameras. LOL! If you like this post and want to see more please like/reblog or leave a comment below!~ <3
Outfit No. 1
Temt navy, scallop shorts, Temt bow top, Cath Kidston thrifted wallet, Asos bag, OPI nail polishes, Marc Jacob Daisy perfume
This top has cute, navy bows on it which goes well with the navy scallop shorts. I think this outfit is perfect for summer since the material of the clothes are thin yet not revealing. This outfit also gives a very sweet and girly, sailor look!~ I decided to choose my asos bag to go with it since it has golden edges, and chain which really helps to add a bit of classiness to this look.
Outfit No. 2
Forever new bag, Valley Girl overall dress, OPI nail polish in Rumple’s Wiggin’, Valley Girl straw bow hat, Shu Uemura Lipstick, Big W Emerson top
This look is very sweet and girly and you definitely won’t spot me wearing this kind of look often since I rarely wear dresses haha. The floral overall dress will go well on top of any white top, and the small satchel bag makes the look even more cute! Just add a cute, bow straw hat to complete the look and shade you away from the hot summer sun!~
Outfit No. 3
Target Spiderman Marvel t-shirt, New Era Mickey Mouse snapback, Kmart and Rubi Accessories, Herschel heritage backpack, Stylenanda shorts, Vans, Ray Bans Wayfarers, Exo Bracelet
This is a more street style, effortless kind of look. I love the marvel top I bought from target which I have tied at the corner so its not too long nor do I have to tuck it in when I wear shorts. This is a more comfy look you can wear when your travelling yet still look stylish. I think the top and the maroon vans are the statement pieces of this look and the vans just help add a bit more colour to your outfit. Add a snapback and a herschel bag and your good to go!~
Outfit No. 4
Kmart crochet top, Stylenanda denim shorts, Daisy Eau so Fresh perfume, OPI , Marc by marc jacob Amy watch, Lancome lip gloss, Kmart daisy headband
A good pair of denim shorts is a must have during this summer, and I’ve paired my denim shorts with a crochet top I bought from Kmart. I think this look gives a bit of bohemian/ hippie kinda feel because of the crochet and daisy headband. Add a nice gold and white watch for some classiness and spritz on some floral perfume so you don’t only look nice by smell nice!~
Outfit No. 5
Jay Jays daisy playsuit, Therapy wedges, Daisy perfume, Innisfree blush, Diva infinity necklace, Etude House lipgloss
Playsuits are super comfy yet stylish! I bought my daisy playsuit from Jay Jays. It seems like the daisy print is very popular this season! I’ve paired this playsuit with comfy, wooden wedges and my golden infinity necklace.
Outfit No. 6
Ray Ban Wayfarers, Lipstik wedges, Bandanna from ebay, Stylenanda shorts, Minnie Etude lipstick, Kmart gold chain necklace, Dotti bodice
This is kinda like a pin up girl look! This look may be a bit bland and boring if you just wear the bodice and shorts so add a golden chain necklace and a red bandanna. And since its summer you can’t go wrong with wayfarers. I also included the red minnie lipstick to complete the pin up girl look.
I thought I should do a fun post and something a bit out of the ordinary. As you guys probably already know I’m an exo fan, oh and I read fanfics! I thought it would be nice to compile my top ten favourite (in no particular order) and completed fanfics of 2013. I wanted to only include completed ones since ongoing ones are still being written in 2014, so it can’t really make a list!
But enjoy these fanfic guys, and if there are any other good ones I haven’t read feel free to drop a message in my ask box! It would also be nice for a like or a reblog on this post if you enjoyed this type of post and would like to see more!~ :X
This fanfic was such a good read! Kris is a wealthy businessman in this fanfic, not only that, he is arrogant and cocky. This character is expected for Kris since he is so handsome and you have to admit he looks rich $$$.
This fanfic is over sixty chapters long and I found I couldn’t stop reading it as it was so addictive. The author really gives us a chance to view different perspectives of each character as she writes in almost all of her characters point of view, and she also lets readers truly understand the characters allowing intense feels whenever a dramatic scene comes up! The main female character, Hana (you) also has such an interesting and unique personality which I wouldn’t mind having. Overall I found this fanfic to be quite funny sometimes and full of feels the next. The fanfic is also written really well, which makes it an even better read~!
I don’t particularly like reading agnsty fanfics, but this fanfic was really good, and if I remember correctly I teared up reading it. The fanfic does have some mature themes, for example there are scenes of abuse and the main character has to live in a brothel. If you don’t know what a ‘brothel’ is you probably shouldn’t read the fanfic nor google the term because you might not be so innocent anymore.
I found it fascinating to read about how such beautiful love could bloom even though the characters lives might be stuffed up. The fanfic has alot to do with the themes of love and trust. Kris also makes an appearance in this fanfic and really takes the readers by surprise by his actions.
What, can I say… this fanfic was full with unexpected moments and tear jerking moments. Rollingbaek is one on my favourite fan fiction authors and her writing skills is amazing.
What I liked about this fanfic is that the story line is different to any other fan fiction I’ve ever read and the scenes aren’t really cliche or typical. The fanfic focuses on the relationship between ‘you’ and Baekhyun, a guy who keeps himself quite distanced from others and is reluctant to fall in love.
This was a pretty long fanfic but overall a very good read. The thing with long fanfictions is that it gives readers plenty of time to understand each character properly and I found that this fanfic really allowed readers to have a good understanding.
One of the best part of this fan fiction is that there is a love triangle, ok maybe a love square. It has been a bit of a while since I read it… But anyway the most important part is there are Kris and Kai in it and they are some of my favorite members! I won’t mention their relationship between each other as I don’t want to spoil it. There are some really shocking stuff that happens in this fanfic that makes it so much more intriguing! But all I remember is how frustrated I felt about the complicated relationships the girl had with the male characters.
I started to read more Sehun fanfics after this one. This fan fiction mainly focuses on a poor girl who has a cold heart and a rich kingka, aka, Sehun. It is heartwarming to read about the lengths someone would go for another person. Overall it was an interesting fanfic, perfect for any Sehun stans!~
This fanfic mostly takes place in the countryside and is about a rich, city boy, Kai who visits the countryside and meets a girl. They fall in love, quite deeply, but there are some barriers that remain between them which prevents things from going their way. The author also includes plenty of flashbacks and tear jerking moments. This fanfic also has some unexpected scenes that took me by surprise! It was also very well written and unique!
This fanfic is a romcom, and I love reading romcoms once in a while. There is plenty of fluff and funny moments. Luhan is also a robot in this fanfic, normally I don’t like reading fanfics where exo members are vampires or robots but this was an exception. It also kinda reminded me of the Japanese manga ‘Absolute Boyfriend’ in some aspects! I recommend this fanfic for anyone looking for a light read and wants a laugh.
I started reading this fanfic since it had heaps of subscribers and the main character was Kai! I remembered I also teared during this fanfic. So story starts off when you meet Kai only to get an interview, since he’s this popular, dancing machine at school, but you ended up getting more than an interview out of that lol. This story is kinda like the typical, teenage romance mixed with a little bit of agnst. I still found it really enjoyable though.
I remember being so in love with this fanfic because Baekhyun is such a flirt, and just reading about his relationship with the oc and their ups and down was interesting lol. It has been a while since I’ve read it, so I can’t exactly remember it clearly, but I know that it was a really good fanfic!
It’s like a breath of fresh air reading a fanfiction where the main characters aren’t either Kris, Baekhyun or Kai. lol. This fanfic is about friendship that is on the verge of becoming something more. The other members of exo are also featured in here which is a plus! This author also has other very good fanfics and I really admire her writing style!~
